Louis P. Giavasis was elected Plain Township Trustee in November of 1993, and he is currently serving his fourth term.

A 28 year resident of Plain Township and lifelong resident of Stark County, Louis is an alumnus of Canton McKinley High School. Married to Jennifer (Roshong), Daughter of David Roshong, retired captain of the Stark County Sheriffs Department and Theresa of Plain Township.  Louis and Jennifer have four children Philip, Athena, Kevin and Emily. Louis is a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Canton, Ohio. He is the son of Phil G. Giavasis, retired from the Plain Local School System and Darlene Cross of North Canton.

Louis is employed by the Stark County Clerk of Courts as the Administrator of the Stark County Title Division, with offices in PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Canton, Massillon, and Alliance.  Along With Stark County Clerk of Courts Nancy S. Reinbold Louis worked to help locate Stark County’s fourth Automobile Title Division Office to PLAIN TOWNSHIP that consolidated the Bureau of Motor Vehicles Deputy Registrar and the Ohio Patrol Drivers Examination Station in one location to make it possible for the citizens of Stark County to transfer auto titles, obtain a drivers license, license plates and take drivers tests all in one location. Louis has also worked to bring approximately 1000 new jobs to Plain Township. Louis has 24 years experience as a finance and computer systems director.  Louis is certified in public and private finance.

Louis has Proven Fiscal Leadership

• Managed 16 annual budgets that have been repeatedly commended by the Stark County Budget Commission for  Excellent Fiscal Policy.
• 16 years of perfect State Audits.
• 16 years of Balanced Budgets.
Plain Township is one of the only Stark Communities currently not in a debt or deficit and has a blanced budget.
• Helped secure millions of dollars in grants for capital and
infrastructure improvements for our Roads, Fire and Police Services.
• Contract with the Stark County Sheriffs Department for police service.
(Saves millions in tax dollars over having our own department)
Plain Township’s operating budget is nearly half of our neighboring community’s budgets that have immensely smaller populations.
Took a volunteer pay-cut and gives back part of his annual salary to the community.

Louis has Experience that is moving our Community Forward making it safer.

• Developed and implemented over 90% of Plain Townships first Master Plan.
• Working to develop the current master plan to provide for the next 10 years.
• Developed and maintains Plain Townships park systems without any property
taxes or levies.
• Expanded Plain Townships Highway services
(A majority of Road and Storm Sewer maintenance is now done in-house saving 100’s of thousands of dollars)
• Expanded Plain Township Police Services.
(Added additional Deputies, road patrols and detective services.)
• Expanded Plain Townships Fire and EMS Service’s.
(All of Plain Township’s Fire and EMS Stations are fully manned 24/7.)
• Updated Plain Township Zoning Resolution that ensures development is planned and maintained properly.
• Continuing collaboration with our neighboring communities to share services that will save us tax dollarsn creates jobs, making Plain Township a safer even  place to live, work and raise our families.
• Updated and extended hundreds of miles of new sanitary, storm and water lines to all parts of our community.
• Working with other Stark County Communities to consolidate and improve 911.
